Just be cautious about what shop you use. There are some that over charge and then that do minimal work that you should not even have them work on it.
There are two past Teac Technicians here and there are a number of other well known technicians around that could also provide a honest service. Watch out for that one guy in New Mexico.

Hello Aerodeck,

The V-9 was the first to use the V900X transport type. The service manual is on Hi Fi Engine as a 5.6MB download. The belt that typically affects the transport is the cam or mode belt. This starts slipping when it gets stretched but also because the grease in the transport is not fresh. I would instruct you to take the cassette cover off- the one on the cassette holder and also the decks bonnet as some call it and then take the transport out. Then place a foam sheet down and unhook wires needed to allow you to place the transport face down on the foam. Then remove the plate that the cam motor is on. Be careful not to break the fingers of the feedback pot fork as this is made of nylon and people break them all the time. The belt size is a 6.5" square belt. If the motor when you turn it makes noise then you might need a new cam motor but that only happens once in a while. I usually spray with Deoxit the feedback position pot but keep the fork position in mind or marked with a marker it's position. I also take the intermediate pulley off and clean the shaft and apply grease (I use Lubriplate 105) and then oil the shaft. This will stop any noise that shaft starts to make. The transport as in the head base can have old grease cleaned away and new Lubriplate put where it was. You can lift the head base with you finger to see how much force is needed as the cam system has to lift that. When you get ready to put it back together you can try to rotate the large cam gear with finger to see if it is lose or not. It should turn easy. I usually oil the cam motors front baring with a drop and rotate it into the motor- this will help long term. Now comes the interesting part. The cam has markings on it and there is a metal finger pointing to those markings- see attachments. The trick is to put the belt on the motor pulley below and then place the metal plate back up to the black gear so that the fork goes onto the piece of the black gear that can rotate this pot. There is a rib that is a radial spoke that the nylon fork goes on. Then once that is done just pull the belt up and over the pulley wheel that you lubricated and the deck should work again. There are pots that help you adjust cam position as in stop and pause and I think fast wind. Maybe you will not have to adjust those. I also at this time like this pull the motor plate off and pull the flywheel out and oil the capstan bearing good. Then put the flywheel back in and work it in and out to distribute the oil. Then MAKE sure you clean the capstan shaft off of oil in the front before you use the deck as oil will be on that shaft. You might have to put the oil retention washer back on to the capstan shaft that falls off when you pull it- it keeps alcohol out of the bearing and also oil from sneaking out onto the shaft. Most people that do not have access to a good service Technician need to do these things themselves and they can do it with our help on how to do it. If you need further help of course in my signature is my E mail address and we can E mail directly. I help people all the time all over the World. I think you can fix this if you get a 6.5" square belt and have sme tools and grease and oil on hand. Denattured alcohol is used for cleaning the heads- you can use Isopropyl alcohol too.
