With its chocolate pudding and creamy delicious layers, what's not to love? We do all seem to go for these types of creamy comfort food desserts, for sure.

If you're a lover of all things creamy, comforting, and delicious? - This classic Chocolate Lush Dessert recipe is for you!

Growing up in Vermont, we always called this dessert Slush Cake. And oh how I loved it every time my Mom would whip up a pan. Much like today when this dessert's around, I just couldn't wait to dig in.

Since moving to North Carolina many years ago though, I've more often heard it referred to as Chocolate Lush Dessert. But then, I've also heard it called Layered Lush, Fat Man's Delight, and Sex In a Pan ... It seems to be a dish of many names.

But one thing's for sure, no matter what you call it, this stuff is just plain good.

So, how do you make Chocolate Lush Dessert? It's easy!

Start by making the simple crust.

Using a fork or an electric mixer on low speed, bled together some flour, finely chopped nuts, and butter until it's all crumbly.

If you use an electric mixer, keep that speed low so the mixture doesn't become creamed like you're making cookies. You want the mixture to be about the texture of coarse sand ...

Pour the crumbs into the bottom of a 9x13” baking dish and pat it all down lightly with your hand to form a crust ...

Then bake the crust for about 15 minutes.

From here on out, Chocolate Lush Dessert is no-bake. But this bit of baking of the crust knocks it out of the no-bake dessert category. Rest assured though, even though it's not no-bake the recipe is still super easy to make!

Once the crust has cooled, begin layering up the dessert with its delicious, creamy layers.

Chocolate Lush seems to be a dish of many names. But one thing's for sure, no matter what you call it, this stuff is just plain good.

For the first creamy layer, beat together softened cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar and Cool Whip. This cream cheese layer gives the dessert its characteristic sweet-tangy taste that comes along with every delicious bite.

Carefully spread this mixture in an even layer on top of the cooled crust.

Next, spread on a layer of pudding that's mixed up to be just slightly more thick than the usual pudding is ...

Finally, top the whole dessert with a layer of Cool Whip and sprinkle on some chopped nuts and mini chocolate chips.

Or if you prefer, just sprinkle on the chopped nuts or mini chocolate chips by themselves. If one of them isn't to your liking, just go ahead and leave them off.

Refrigerate the pan for a couple of hours or overnight to let everything set and allow the flavors to meld.

While you certainly can dig into Chocolate Lush Dessert's tasty layers after a few hours of chill time, I recommend allowing everything to chill together overnight if you can. It sure tastes great after a few hours, but we think it tastes even better when it sets overnight!
